MalinWaters.com has announced support of the Rathlin Sound Maritime Festival 2014. The popular maritime festival was launched on 1st May at Portnagree House Harbour and Marina Visitor Centre in Ballycastle, County Antrim. Representing MalinWaters, Joy Harron, Marine Marketing & Development Officer for Donegal Tourism Ltd attended the launch event and said ‘this is a wonderful celebration of the best of maritime heritage and culture, which encapsulates all that is great about our shared MalinWaters regions, MalinWaters are delighted to support the festival’.
Enjoying Local Seafood and Music
Guests at the launch enjoyed traditional music, were presented with the festival brochure and tasted some delightful local seafood. A spectacular Mermaid & Anchor themed cake was created by a popular local baker showcasing the wealth of culinary talent in the area. Fresh fish & chips were prepared by a local café and guests also enjoyed crab claws and prawns sourced in the region. This was just a sample of what will be on offer at the actual event.
Action Packed Opening Weekend
Rathlin Sound Maritime Festival takes place between RathlinIsland and Ballycastle on the magical North Coast of Antrim in the heart of the Causeway Coast & Glens. The opening weekend features a parade, a tall ship and delicious seafood BBQ with traditional music on the Diamond in Ballycasle on 23rd May. With music from ‘Goats Don’t Shave’ lots of street entertainment, the ‘Big Lunch’, paddle boarding, kayaking and dinghy sailing, competitions and much more, this is a festival not to be missed.
