Arran is renowned for its mountain walks and wild landscape. The island offers great variety, including walking and cycling at various degrees of difficulty. The Arran skyline is dominated by the jagged summits and ridges of Goatfell and the surrounding hills, providing a dramatic backdrop to Brodick Castle, Garden & Country Park. Goatfell is the highest peak on Arran, and is a very popular ascent at 874m (2,866ft), with well marked tracks and spectacular views to Ben Lomond, Jura and the coast of Ireland.
