The festival attracts performers from throughout Europe. This year the confirmed line-up includes groups from Scotland, England, Germany, Finland and the Shetland Islands. The organisers are also in talks with groups from other European destinations. Running alongside the festival are a number of shanty workshops. There’s a chance to find out more about the origin of sea shanties, learn how to sing a song or two and maybe even find out how to rig a tall ship! This is the eighth year of the shanty weekend.Music is performed in venues throughout the village. Most of the entertainment is free but two events have an entry fee with the proceeds going towards the work of the RNLI.
