Bangor has Northern Ireland’s largest marina – 550 berths (with five-gold-anchor rating), convenient by sea and by land, close to the town centre with supermarkets, shops, restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance. The Royal Ulster Yacht Club, from where Sir Thomas Lipton launched his America’s Cup challenges, is nearby and welcomes visitors, as does Ballyholme Yacht Club. Bangor has excellent train and bus connections with Belfast and is a convenient place for crew changes. The North Down Heritage Centre, in the town, and the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, a few miles away at Cultra, are worth a visit.
