Celtic Connections for 40th Celebrations at The Scottish Series

09 May 2014

Silvers Marine Scottish Series is delighted to welcome sponsors MalinWaters to the Fortieth Anniversary Regatta. MalinWaters supported the 2013 Scottish Series and is committed to establishing the valued links between Ireland and Scotland and the wonderful coastlines we share.

MalinWaters emerged as a result of the Sail West project supported by European Regional Development Fund INTERREG IVA. The aim is to encourage the development of marine tourism and recreation across a shared maritime region. MalinWaters does indeed encompass some exceptionally stunning scenery, legendary landscapes and is the all-important crossing for our feeder race to Silvers Marine Scottish Series from Bangor.

The connections between the Irish racing contingency and Scottish Series are very strong and many Irish boats have participated and often dominated this regatta over the years. “Our friends are invited to join us again in 2014 to join the 40th celebrations where their

craic ashoreand Celtic rivalry on the race course is welcome in equal measure” writes Joanna Turner, event promotional coordinator. The Bangor to Inverkip feeder race starts on Wednesday 21st of May at 20.00hrs, Bangor. This overnight race will conclude at a laid finish line off Inverkip Marina with a time limit set for Thursday evening. The sailors will recover briefly before being on the start line for 10.00hrs on Friday 23 for the Clyde Challenger Race from Gourock to Tarbert Loch Fyne which marks the opening of the 40th Scottish Series.

When it comes to Scottish Series the Celts are better together and there is certainly a lot of good times shared and many more reminisced. As the event fast approaches it is with excitement that we look forward to the boats from all-round the UK and Ireland coming together competing and connecting at this superb Scottish yachting regatta organised by the Clyde Cruising Club from 23 – 26 May 2014.
