Killahoey Beach, Dunfanaghy, Co Donegal

Killahoey is more commonly known as Dunfanaghy Beach, it is situated down past Dunfanaghy Golf Course on the outskirts of Dunfanaghy town. Killahoey is used mainly by locals and can be very windy as it is not a sheltered beach.

The golden sands of Killahoey Beach with breathtaking views of Horn Head, Muckish Mountain towering in the background and the Rossguill Peninsula reaching out across the bay is a panoramic vista not to be missed.

The changing scenes as you walk along the shoreline capture the moment as you mingle with the many seabirds that frequent this beautiful stretch of sandy beach – the Oyster Catcher, Tern, Sanderling, and Dunlin, not forgetting the Cormorant and the Grey heron are no strangers to these waters. Killahoey is a Blueflag beach with lifeguards on duty during July and August between 12 noon and 6.30pm.
