The Fanad Peninsula has a dramatic coastline that stretches from Milford which is known as the Gateway to the Fanad Peninsula, through Kerrykeel to Fanad Head in the North, before turning south down through Portsalon, Rathmullan and Ramelton. Fanad Head has a magnificent lighthouse erected in 1818 to mark the entrance to Lough Swilly, it stands proudly on a rocky promontory overlooking Lough Swilly and Dunaff Head whilst over 100 feet below the sea crashes onto the rocks. From Fanad Head follow the coast road south to Portsalon with its splendid Portsalon Golf Links and the stunning Blue Flag Beach of Ballymastocker Bay, which was once voted the second most beautiful beach in the world.
